The Solution To Wet Coal!

The patented RAMsorb® process eliminates we coal handling problems for all coal fired operations. With over a decade of experience our technology has proven to be the most efficient and cost effective way to maintain and restore generation during wet conditions. Please contact us or call us at (336) 605-3086 if your operation experiences any of the following problems due to wet coal:

  1. Derating of power generation due to the inability to process wet coal.
  2. Costly down time to clean silos, conveying, and milling equipment.
  3. Low stack temperatures resulting in a shutdown os SCR processes and other "exhaust scrubber" equipment resulting in the consumption of NOx credits and increased emissions.
  4. The expensive purchase of megawatts to replace lost generation.
  5. Interruptions to your custom base resulting in brown outs or black outs.

Product Overview

Wet coal is one of the most difficult challenges associated with thermal cola power generation. Wet coal increases emissions, derates, and plant shut downs resulting in lost generation of revenue and increased stress on equipment and systems designed for continuous operation. RAM-3 has the solution; our technology is patent-pending and utilizes RAMsorb®, an agent which reacts with surface moisture transforming it into a lubricating gel and totally preventing the formation of sticky wet coal. Once applied RAMsorb® remains with the fuel throughout the crushing, milling, and burning processes. RAM-3 designs our equipment for applying RAMsorb® to withstand the toughest coal yard conditions.

Our equipment is tailored to each station and can include a full range of process control interfaces. Contact us and we can discuss your situation and arrange for an onsite evaluation and demonstration.

Testimonials

A Western Kentucky 970 megawatt station:

"Our operation in the Ohio Valley began using the RAMsorb® technology in 2000. Prior to employing RAMsorb® technology we experienced a significant amount of derate events per year during wet conditions. In addition we had plugging in our coal chutes, bunkers, and pulverizers, which required us to take our pulverizers off line for manual cleaning, a safety and labor cost concern."

"The RAMsorb technology has virtually eliminated our wet coal problems. RAMsorb technology has proven to be one of our highest payback investments by increatsing our generating time, slightly increasing precipitator performance and eliminating the labor and safety concerns we had with wet coal issues."

Robert W. Berry - General Manager, Reid / Green / HMP&L Station II
350+ Megawatt Midwest Power Generation Station:

"For the few days out of the year that we deal with wet coal, the RAMsorb® process has eliminated the milling and derating concerns that usually accompany those events. Ball mill cleaning and reconditioning due to clogging has been greatly reduced since we've adopted this process in wet weather."

Maintenance Manager at a 300+ Megawatt Plant in Texas:

"Since we implemented the RAMsorb® process our wet handling issues have been greatly diminished. The results were quite noticeable from the outset of feeding the product directly to the coal prior to our initial crushing operation."

Operations Manager of a 250 Megawatt Ohio River Valley Station:

"Out station receives fuel from a local mine via truck delivery. During wet conditions the fuel has very little time to dry prior to bunkering. We have relied on the RAMsorb® process since 2001 to keep our units generating at full capacity. The station has experienced zero derates associated with bunkering, milling, or feeding when utilizing RAMsorb® technology. This has resulted in a significant decrease in lost revenue for the facility."

About Us

ramsorb feeder

Our business came into being as a result of thermal coal power generation plants looking for a way to reduce the cost associated with shutdowns and derates caused by wet coal. Not only was revenue being lost but operation expenses were higher because of clean ups and increased maintenance. In addition these plants were forced to consume Nox credits and release higher levels of emissions because of low exhaust gas temperatures. All of these impacts being the direct result of wet fuel.

The solution was found and patents were filed, resulting in RAM-3 being formed to commercialize the technology. As news of the success of the RAM-3 technology spread the company expanded our equipment designs to ensure that our product, RAMsorb®, is applied as part of a Total Solution concept. By binding surface moisture at the molecular level RAMsorb® is applied at only one point which eliminates wet coal handling issues throughout the entire operation. And by giving the customer the proper control and delivery of RAMsorb® ensures that its unique properties are used efficiently to solve wet coal issues at the lowest possible cost.

We have developed a model calculation that can estimate teh cost of benefit for virtually any thermal coal generation operation. If you would like us to estimate the benefits to your operation please contact us at your earliest convenience.
